Egyptian Wedding guide UX/ UI

Scope | A personal side project. The largest Egyptian wedding directory at that time to help every bride plan the perfect wedding. The directory focused on the biggest two cities Cairo and Alexandria. It offered a rich guide to wedding services providers, articles, tips, and trends. After the flotation of the Egyptian pound in 2016, it became hard to maintain the project; we kept struggling till 2018 and finally decide to shut it down. |

The Process of UX research:
- The idea we had is to build a wedding directory to help brides plan their perfect wedding. We noticed a gap in the market for such a demand.
- I made an online search for any competitor and discover the wedding industry aspects; in addition, I visited several wedding dress ateliers, accessories, and other service providers to understand how they process.
The UX research findings:
I concluded that the Egyptian wedding market is so big but yet scattered. Some customs are different in every governorate but usually, there is a unified process in every wedding anywhere in Egypt. As a result, it was a strategic move to focus on Cairo and Alexandria only because they have the most number of service providers.
The project scope was to build a wedding directory that contains multiple sections: A) service providers like wedding dress sellers, hairdressers, honeymoon hotels, makeup artists, flower shops, etc… B) Articles about every trend. C) Tips
The project relied heavily on social media activities. Because the research showed that brides to be are using Facebook as a medium to search and communicate with service providers and in return, most service providers have a Facebook page but not a website. The interrelationship between the Facebook page and the website is vital for the success of this project.
The UI:
- I discussed with the developer the scope of work and decided to use Drupal as the CMS of this project. Later, I created the sketch for web pages and discussed it with the developer and the rest of the team. I decided to go with the gold and purple colors because they reflect royalty and that is the status every bride looks to have in her wedding. I used the designing in-browser method to implement the design
- I monitored the data entry team and the marketing team as they were collecting all the data available to list on the website and quickly we had a database of hundreds of different service providers all over Cairo and Alexandria.
The Results:
The offline and online marketing efforts were parallel. And the Facebook page was directing traffic to the website as anticipated.
After the launch of the site, I interviewed some service providers and they gave positive feedback about the website and asked for more features to be added too.
We had hundreds of different service providers registered and we were featured in wedding fairs and events.
